Did your municipality complete an inventory or a storm management plan? Let us know!
There are many different ways to collect data either in great detail with professional crews in the field, or in less detail with a handful of trained volunteers going around collecting what we call the Basic Inventory Data. Your Basic Inventory Data should include the following variables: Location, Genus, Condition, Diameter, Professional Attention, Vacant Planting Sites, and Damage. If conducting a survey including all of the Basic Inventory Data you can still get a gist for your forest resource by having a professional do a quick drive by or windshield inventory. Determining what type of inventory is right for your municipality is important because it will allow you to get the most out of your time and volunteers.
